Production Journalist - ITV News Meridian

At ITV News Meridian Production Journalists are at the heart of our award-winning news operation, working across all of our output throughout the day – on-air and online.
We have a vacancy at our newsroom in Maidstone in Kent for a keen, self-starting, ideas-rich, journalist, with a passion for local news, who is ready to take the next step in their career.
The successful applicant will be hard-working, bring in lots of stories and excel at social media and online content. In our newsroom you will write scripts, edit news pictures, assist our web curator as well as working on content for our flagship 6pm programme.
The Google News Initiative Fellowship connects students and recent graduates who want to explore the intersection between journalism and technology with news organisations.
The successful candidates will kick off their careers in the news industry by spending 8 weeks in Summer working with experts in newsrooms and creating a professional network.

You will undertake training while working alongside news teams creating content for multiple platforms. You’ll get hands-on experience involving researching, writing and broadcasting news.
We offer general journalism trainee places around the UK which means you could be working in one of our newsrooms or news programmes in London, Salford, Cardiff, Shetland or Orkney.
The scheme takes 10 months to complete and will equip you with the skills to move into a permanent role at the BBC.
How much will I be paid?
The salary for the year will be £21,216. If you are based in London, the salary is £25,776 per annum.
