It's that time of year again for our third year students to run their own publication. This time around they are producing a 24 page newspaper and running a website alongside it. Applications open for NUS Student Journalists 2017-18!

The NUS are recruiting paid student journalists to represent the realities of life on campus. The job pays £1,000 a year for two pieces per month, plus you get a student associate membership with the NUJ. Your pieces would be promoted on nus.org.uk 

The NUS is looking for six reporters to cover students in the community, sustainable student practices, lifestyle and student perspectives.  

To apply submit a piece on any of the themes above as a 400 word news report, or a 400 comment piece, or a 2 minute multimedia piece. 

The deadline for submission is 5pm Friday 22 September 2017. Please attach a CV with your application and links to any previously published work. If you are submitting a video or audio piece, please let us know what editing platforms you use.

For those hired, regular submissions will be expected from November 2017 to November 2018. An induction day will be held in the first week of November at the NUS London office. Travel will be paid for by NUS.

Travel grant for aspiring radio journalists (!!!!)

All you aspiring Hemingways and Graham Greenes...here's your chance. 
 
Every year, in partnership with BBC Radio 4, the Royal Geographical Society give someone £5,000 to make their dream journey – anywhere in the world – and record their adventure for a Radio 4 documentary.
 
They are looking for aspiring journalists with a passion for radio who are excited about finding new ways to tell original stories in sound. Past recipients have gone to the South Pacific, Mexico, India and Sierra Leone, to mention just a few.
