Laerke Christensen became the tenth* Centre for Journalism student to recieve the unique Bob Friend Sky News Scholarship last night, at a glittering event on the Historic Dockyard at Medway.
Sky News assistant editor Peter Diapre presented Laerke with her award, following which BBC media editor Amol Rajan delivered a brilliant lecture 'The Tortoise and the Share' - more of which next week.
In the meantime there are more pictures of last night's event over on our Facebook pages.
* And yes it is the tenth. Tim is buying me an abacus for my next birthday. Clearly I'm in denial over the number of years since our first event...
I have word from Millbank that white smoke has just emerged from chimney above the glass box in the Sky News studio, meaning that this year's Bob Friend scholar has been chosen.
Many congratulations to Year 2 student Laerke Christensen, who has emerged just ahead after what I'm told was an incredibly difficult decision by the final judging panel: Peter Diapre of Sky News, and Tim Luckhurst and Angela Harrison from the Centre for Journalism.
Finalists Alex Crean, Isabel Muller Eidhamar and Frazer Norwell should also be incredibly proud of their performances today in what is a very high pressure situation. They have all enhanced the centre's reputation greatly.
Entries to the Bob Friend scholarship should be made by 5pm on Monday 5 February. Hand in a hard copy of your treatment to Nicola and send an email copy to me.
Don't forget that Paul Francis is running this week's Year 1 Public Affairs class at 1.30pm today in the main newsroom.
